Young People Out of School are at Risk

This video, made in 2007, discusses the vulnerability to poverty and HIV of young Ugandans who have had to leave school, including child-headed families, fishermen, pastoralists, and youth living in camps for internally displaced persons (IDPs.) It was made jointly by members of the Ugandan Network of Young People Living with HIV/AIDS (UNYPA) and students from Williams College. It is in English. The UNYPA was established in 2003 to provide leadership for young people with HIV, and now has over 20,000 members across Uganda. The videos we made with them were to empower their lobbying and advocacy work with the Ugandan government and outside funders and activists. The World Health Organization has since made 250 copies of the videos, and UNYPA is using them to influence policy and communicate with other groups worldwide.
